Another Brief Update
Michael FarrellClearly, I have a poor sense of time passing. Last year I began updating this blog regularly, and I had fully intended to maintain that. Now it has been nearly a year since the last update, and I’m only just realizing this. Rather than provide a lengthy description of all that has happened since Thanksgiving of last year, I’ll briefly touch on a few major things.
At the beginning of this year, I decided to try using a disposable camera. That experiment developed (pun intended) into a new hobby, and I now have a film camera that I use to take most of my photos. I currently have a roll of Portra 800 in it, but I don’t think I’m going to stick with Portra. My favorite films for now and the foreseeable future are Ilford HP5+, Kodak Gold 200, and Cinestill 800T. If anyone reads this and was following me on X, I posted quite a few of my favorite photos there. It is possible that I will upload more of these photos to this blog or to YouTube.
On the topic of X, someone reading this might wonder where my account is. All of my socials (aside from YouTube, which I don’t use as a social site) have been deleted. This was a deliberate choice on my part, as I found that social media was consuming far too much of my time, attention, and happiness. I am unable to use social media in healthy, moderated amounts, if there even is such a thing, and was becoming angry and shortwicked. Since getting rid of these accounts, I’ve replaced that time with times of reading and praying. Both have been tremendously healthier for me in mind, body, and soul.
This improvement also comes at a very important time, as school is about to begin. Hannah and I are entering our senior year. Lord willing, by next May I will have my bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies, and Hannah will have her bachelor’s degree in Studio Art. From there we will have to decide whether we are going straight into graduate school or whether we are taking a break from school. Regardless, this year is a significant and exciting year for us.
I think that covers the important things. Hopefully I can remind myself to update this blog more consistently, but if I can’t, just know that life is very busy. For now, I’d like to encourage you with this from Psalm 91:1-2.
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD , He is my refuge and my fortress: My God; in him will I trust.
Amen.
